Designing an architecture is much more than ’drawing a picture’. An architect’s main job is preparing and taking design decisions, and to a large extent the value of the architecture is in the reasoning behind those decisions.
During this workshop, you will play the game ’DecidArch’: a collaborative, tabletop card game in which you as a team of architects design the architecture of a software-intensive system. You’ll need to make various design decisions, shape the system to address the concerns of the project’s stakeholders, and balance the stakeholders’ requirements to find a satisfactory solution. Along the way, we discuss the nature of design decisions and whether the decisions we make as architects are truly rational.
